Congratulations to Cedars Special School who have been awarded winners of the category “Excellence in Disabled Sport” at the School Sports Matters Awards. The award was received by Stephanie Moore and Rebecca Morton and given to them by Paralympian David Weir.
Cedars achieved sports college status in September 2007 and have gone from strength to strength. Gateshead Kestrels sports club, co-ordinated by Cedars school has had numerous sporting achievements at recent sporting events including 28 swimming medals and 36 athletic medals. Cedars is the only special school to be selected by the Youth Sports Trust in which 15 students fulfil the requirement of being in the top 5% nationally in their discipline.
