Healthwise Event at Ryton

As a school with National Healthy School Status Ryton Comprehensive are always keen to promote the importance of healthy lifestyles.  The "Healthwise" extended schools community event which took place in the main hall on Wednesday 25th March was a drop-in aimed at parents and the wider community to inform and educate about healthy choices. This is one of the key groups for schools to engage with to help attain Healthy School Status.

A variety of Information stands were  on offer including Gateshead young carers, The Amber Project, Ryton Youth Centre and Parentline.  The school nurses and the school showcased our own Healthy School Portfolio and Healthy meal choices on offer for students. Gateshead Health Trainer Jenny Ritson was on site to perform mini body MOTs and give advice around smoking cessation, physical activity etc.

In future similar events may be linked to school parents evenings or open evenings to maximise possible attendance.
