An allocation of funding to the Ryton cluster was used to develop elements of the extended schools core offer. In addition to a varied menu of activities the cluster has also been able to create several new post across the schools in the Ryton cluster to assist with supporting the needs of children and transition through the school years.

Ryton cluster has been able to appoint a Senior Learning Mentor to coordinate mentoring, 2 Learning Mentor posts, 2 Learning Support Assistants and a Parental Support Worker. A newsletter will be distributed late in 2008 updating on current activities and outlining the roles of the staff working across the cluster.
The cluster has also developed a close working relationship with the Blaydon Childrens Centre and the associated services that operate and coordinate with the centre.
In 2009 there is provision to continue to develop parent and child classes and several cross-cluster activities are planned.
