Childcare Sufficiency Assessment - WE WANT YOUR VIEWS!!!!!!

A76.jpg

Under the Childcare Act 2006 local authorities have a new duty to guarantee sufficient childcare that meets the needs of working parents and parents making the transition to work. To help us do so we would like your views on childcare in Gateshead.

Childcare Sufficiency Assessments (CSA’s) give local authorities the chance to work with local partners, filling gaps in the market and shaping childcare and services in their area. The ultimate aim is to provide the best possible childcare market for local families. All Childcare Sufficiency Assessments had to be submitted by the end of March 2008.

Gateshead Council’s initial Childcare Sufficiency Assessment was completed in 2007. With a view to enhancing this following feedback from the DCSf QA Research was commissioned to complete a further full assessment in late 2008.

This report constitutes an assessment of the sufficiency of childcare within Gateshead during the period in which the assessment was carried out (January to March 2009) and is one step in helping to secure sufficient childcare in the area.
